Another very nice IQ this week.
I spent some time grid staring and and (re-) reading the preamble but it all worked out eventually. Many thanks to Charybdis.

Sorry, omitted the 9 from the title!

I'm frustratingly stuck on two.
12) US sauce pouches section (4, I have S-RS) and
9) Supports holding base of transmitter in sand dunes (4, I have IR-S, possibly ER-S)
Both clues produce extra letters, probably C and L respectively, but no clashes .
Any tips gratefully received.

Sloth, in 12d your R is incorrect. Def. is "US sauce"
9d. your second version is correct. Def. is "sand dunes"
Both extra letters also OK

Does 18a work for you, Muraria? I can parse it if the comma near the end is replaced by “to”, but not otherwise

Thanks quisling, yes indeed, I have a question mark against that in my printoff version but what you say has to be correct. Combined with the clash, it held me up for a while.
