Hello, long-time reader, first time poster here. I have two unclued entries remaining (11ac and 31d) and 5 letters unchecked letters and have been unable to identify the name in the grid. I think I have identified the source of "appropriately placed".
11ac: *O*S*
31dn: BI*L*
Any hints/guidance would be appreciated ?

Your letters are correct, except 11A is *O*S*N. Try ticking off the uncheckd letters that you already have from the anagram in the preamble. 11A is a theme word similar to 16A and 37A.

Both words appear in the quote. Without the exact quote I don’t think it’s possible to interpret “appropriately placed”.

Thanks, Jono. I'll keep digging for the quote. So far I have come up with Dawn French and AE Housman. An unlikely combo !

Done. Had the answers yesterday but didn't enter because I had not found the quote. Messed up identifying the unchecked letters used. Despite the self-inflicted pain, I enjoyed the puzzle. The is my second Speccie puzzle so getting used to the format. Thanks again for the help.
