18 Across - "Cleaner to rebuke centre-back (6-7)". The answer is CARPET-SWEEPER. I go along with "Carp" for rebuke, but, not being a fan of team ball-games, the rest is lost on me. Please explain!

Thank for your replies. I thought "sweeper" was probably a football term, but hadn't thought of "carpet", rather than "carp" for "rebuke.
