I enjoyed this! Some amusing clues: 19a,13d and 18d made me smile.
A swift solve but can’t parse first part of 9a or first part of 3d. Hints appreciated.

You can change settings so it doesn’t skip any filled cells. I was having the same problem as you. Just untick the ‘skip over filled letters’ box in the settings.
Like others, I didn’t like 16D as a clue. The Spoonerism was witty though. Mostly straight forward otherwise

9a is 4 letter word for a small amount followed by usual 1 letter abbreviation for energy. It’s not a commonly used word now imo.
3D is synonym for railroad in terms of forcing someone to do something.

First sub-hour Everyman solve. All parsed. Getting better. Quiptics still stumping me on the whole though - are they meant to be harder?

I parsed it like you did, wrote it as CD instead of DD.

I'm stuck on 13D and 25A, which nobody has mentioned.

13 - acted is an anagram for the second word. Overall a term I haven’t heard since the 70s.
Then 25 should be secure…

Still not getting 19d!
