A very quick fill after a few relatively toughies. Thanks Phi. Just a shame for me that it appeared the same day as a Listener numerical!

Hi all, my first post here after lurking for a few weeks (I've only been doing barred puzzles like the Inquisitor for a month or two).
Same here - all went in pretty quickly and I managed to do almost all of it without leaning on anything aside from my brain and a physical copy of Chambers. So that was nice.
I had a bit of trouble finishing off the bottom left 6x6 but the endgame bit helped me get a few more letters in and I got there in the end.

(I've only ever done one Listener - keep meaning to do more - I can't imagine how I'd attack a numerical. Well done to anyone who tries)

I'm struggling in SE corner, so a steer for 22d bacteria clue would be great.

4 letter word for large minus last letter (think films)
then
4 letter word for a (think quantity)

Just 28a to get now.
Nothing really fits my crossers.

Lumen, for 28 A, I didn't think of the answer as a vegetable, but Chambers put me right.

Still no idea on parsing of 28a, especially where the T comes from.
