I see that we're to ignore an acute accent. But what are we supposed to do with the 2 grave accents which a cursory glance of the puzzle has revealed?

With crossers in place I think there may, in each of two thematic answers (42a & 45a) , be two possible valid entries........

I agree about the duplicate possibilities. For 42 I've gone with the word which requires neither a hyphen nor another grave accent. 45 is anybody's guess.

I think I'll do the same for 42a and go for the "Navajo" option for 45
