Another set of some very obscure references. However, fortunately well placed here, as my Dearly Beloved was able to draw on childhood memories.

I've completed the "clued" grid but I am hopelessly stuck as to the theme. Any hints would be appreciated.

Cannot be too explicit, but try to think of a link between the first word of the title and the last word of the instruction. Then you will need to do a Google search, bearing in mind the 2nd and 3rd words of the title.

Have you all seen that the Speccie crossword is back to offering John Lewis vouchers. What are they thinking of? Lots of puzzlers who like myself do not live in the UK cannot use them.

Aber, the JL vouchers are of no use to many, many people living IN the UK! Scotland, for example, has only two branches.

Have not paid much attention to the prizes as I never submit puzzles, but it does seem self-defeating to exclude a large proportion of potential solvers from the modest glory.

I suspect they’re trying to appeal to a certain demographic. However, it’s just occurred to me, reading the other comments, that seeing as many of the winners don’t even live in the UK, what use is any monetary prize in GBP? Maybe that’s why they’re going with the vouchers.

I just looked online and it seems that John Lewis vouchers can be used in Waitrose which rather broadens their usefulness.

Will37, thanks for that update - but still not much use in Scotland. I think there are two JL stores and three or four branches of Waitrose in the whole country.
