I've completed everything, but still don't understand the order of the clues, nor some of the extra words.

Another cracking Inquisitor puzzle. I assume the choice of the first word in the series is arbitrary? The manner in which the extra words match the series is brilliant. The puzzle did however take a little longer than the plays do.

I assumed arbitrary too, Gitto. For that reason I’m slightly surprised the preamble didn’t say the highlighting was parallel to disambiguate

I agree quisling, but I haven't gone for the parallel option as it appears in the wrong order. Ho-Hum. I'm glad that this isn't a prize crossword because the ambiguity would nag away at me for days.

I think I'm with gitto as far as the question of which first word should be highlighted is concerned and would go for that above the relevant individuals, thus making them 'break' the name of the series.
