Hi Rocky,

17a - I didn't take a screenshot (why would I?) and can't remember which clue this is. If you still have access to it and want it parsed just copy and paste it.

Rocky7 - in 17a the whole word is cryptically defined by the whole of the second part of the clue (after the comma). In that sense it’s a non-word, so a sort of riddle in itself. If that makes any sense at all!

Hello all
I've been trying to access the Kite puzzle but under the heading 'Removed crossword' I get this:

The puzzle by Kite was published in error on 19 May, 2025. Today’s puzzle is the usual Easter weekend jumbo which can be found at https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords/2025/apr/19/easter-special-cryptic-crossword-no-29673 . Kite’s puzzle will appear on 17 May. Apologies to solvers.

Any thoughts?

His Rocky,

Chambers gives the first 4 letters as "tea" (as well as the usual 3) and I took the final 3 to be the same as you would add to the end of an orange, lemon or another "sweetened" drink.

That's what I have Brendan. It's a bit loose to be honest. It also means I can't fathom out 8d still. Been totally stuck for ages now.

Hi rocky
It's not too hard to guess the middle word in 8d if you have the middle letter. Take it from there!

What a fiasco. Can no longer find the Kite puzzle online.
Happy I solved it last night.
Passing on Maskarade as usual.
