Rocky7 - in 17a the whole word is cryptically defined by the whole of the second part of the clue (after the comma). In that sense it’s a non-word, so a sort of riddle in itself. If that makes any sense at all!
Chambers gives the first 4 letters as "tea" (as well as the usual 3) and I took the final 3 to be the same as you would add to the end of an orange, lemon or another "sweetened" drink.
