Which with an 'e' from the beginning of eye, and 'Lean' looks
like "Eleanor". Not sure about the soldiers though.

Eleanor is correct. OR is short for Other Ranks, as in soldiers. Frequently appears in cryptics.

The other one looks like CAR-SICK (estate car)
