The online version now has “Special Instructions” attached which simply rewrite the clue for 23a and address the 23/24 issue our earlier solvers were discussing!

Scratch that query about 10a. I see (or hear) it now. Still not a fan.

Incidentally, starting with 1d for a change, I got the answer immediately and thought, 'That's a really neat clue.' It was only when I turned to 1a that I realized I'd got 1d completely wrong. My initial answer - 'edit'!

I had a similar thought process, Phil! Fortunately I started with 1a.

Brendan, I found myself singing Buffalo Girls in response to 24a as well!

I enjoyed it today but am I missing something or is a 14d surely a W African?

You're right Acton - I wonder if it was a misprint?

I enjoyed this, but it was definitely on the tougher side. COD was 15a. Also initially put in edit as the answer to 1d, and thought what a great clue!

LOI was 7 down, which I had to look up from the crossers, and which I still can't parse, even partially. Can anyone enlighten me?

Hi Jules. I also struggled and just realised that, if you enjoy the hobby, then you’d be very familiar with the image of our sovereign.

Enjoyed that, and agree that it should be W African. Loved the Spoonerism, and 5D. Don’t understand 10A.

Happy Sunday, everyone, and thanks, Everyman.

Oh of course Barry! Thanks for that! Although, to be picky, surely people who have this hobby don't just go for the British ones?! That would seem to be quite limiting.

I don't really understand 10a either. Just can't make it work. If you wrote down the answer as it would sound if you said it with the answer (sorry, I know that's obscure but I'm trying not to give it away!) then P(ower) wouldn't come forth, it would come fifth.

And I agree about 5d - I don't think I've ever seen a clue like that before and I have to admit I only parsed it after biffing the answer, but it works brilliantly. So that is my joint COD with 15. I also, for once, enjoyed the Spoonerism too!

Jules and Barry. Try saying forth with a mouthful of marbles - it might (!) give you a synonym for power. As mentioned, Everyman's rather too fond of this type of clue for my liking.
