Thanks, quisling. Whilst I'd considered that meaning of zip, I couldn't then make the leap to the wordplay.

Thanks, simon9x, quisling and castefiore. For 12 across, I thought the solution for the last three words was the opposite, i.e, a seat in the boot. And the solution for the first five words is a little vague ... And now I have to rethink 13 down!

Found this hard going, not because of the theme, which was comparatively easy to identify, but because this is an Enigmatist puzzle and that meant some intricate wordplay at times. Enigmatist upsets many forum posters whenever he appears during the daily GW crosswords but is at home in the Prize and Genius slots.

Even when the clues are relatively straightforward, the identity of the setter means that I jump at shadows by trying to think of the most fringe definitions and convoluted possible parsing.

Thanks to Jono for the interactive grid:-)

I found this quite tricky in places and ther are still a few I haven't fully parsed, but it's early days so I'll soldier on - trooper that I am 😜

Is the great plethora of thematic words a purely anglophone thing or is there something similar in other languages?

Not a reply, just a question.

I have all the answers I think, with one exception. Five-letter word missing three letters!!!

23D: I have letters 2 and 4 (assuming no errors of course). Any hint without spoiling?

Hi Djmparis,

23d - the "north" indicates a reveral of "new line" 3 letters and "the way to do things" is a common acronym
