Thanks to all who entered this week’s Clueless challenge.
Plenty of ticks from me for clues from all setters. However, after some consideration my shortlist came down to…

DrD@27
Doubly-topped head; iconic layer atop this pint (8)
I particularly liked ‘iconic layer’ which took a while to land but was satisfying when it did.

Fiery@36
Stout one has arm around Elliot perhaps (8)
Though it should be Eliot with one L (which has the added advantage of deceiving the solver into thinking of TS) but a well disguised definition I thought.

Wil@41
Brewed using nitrogen with, not oddly, yeast put in (8)
A clever play on the actual Guinness recipe and an &Lit-ish definition.

Geting@34
Brewer shifting last couple of crates in snug (8)

For me this had the best surface, conjuring images of a busy pub, and a cleverly concealed anagram.

Congrats go to Geting and here are the prizes…

119.5 seconds (I shall have to put this to the test)…

Cheers all,

Congrats Geting - great clue; creamy smooth! Thanks Jon - enjoyed the clips - that stout fellow in another Ealing classic. I’ve probably drunk more pints that that barman has pulled! ☘️

Congrats geting - nice clue. Thanks jono.

Has anyone else here noticed that Guinness in Ireland is quite a different drink from in England? You wouldn't think of ordering an English Guinness as just a thirst-quencher!

Many thanks for the distinction and the prizes Jono. I suppose that means I'll have to give guinness another try then. It wasn't a success the first time around.
