33a could be hanaps

Thank you AJT - I see Hans for chinese people and hanaps for goblets, but what letter or word "would be removed"?

I think perhaps "as" for like" containing P (peking's original), and so the missing letter would be s.

I've been trying to work on vacuous for the other - eggs ova, missing o, but I can't see the connection with the rest of the word, either bread or currency.

Thanks for those ideas - I'll have another ponder!

non-juror but I can't identify the extra "letter or word"

28d possibly triff (terrific) as a definition of def (defo definitely) leaving extra letter as "A"
All guesswork - others help me if I'm wrong!
