Thanks, jono, roof, and geeker. That's actually a pretty good pun then. I shall go delving into the world of British soaps now.

I remembered 14a as a great clue, so that was my way in.

Sorry roof I didn't put the clue in. 22a cheese you said you couldn't parse the last five letters. If not my apologies I might have misunderstood.

Just finished.

FOI 13d (a write in I thought)
LOI 9ac with a groan from me - I should have got it earlier
CODs 14ac, 5d and 18ac, though I couldn't see where the R and D came from for the anagram for the latter.

See you all next week. Thanks for all the help.

roof, in 18 the anagrist is A + D ("wizard in the end) + SO PEERLESS.

Finished. Thanks for the hints. I was hampered for ages by 16d because I had Slackers in there. S plus lackers (lacquers) for setters made sense at the time!

Nelliegee: I did exactly the same with 16d! But unlike you I haven't yet figured out the correct answer - if anyone has a hint I'd be very grateful. While I'm at it, hints for 17,24 and 7d would be great - thanks in advance...

16d is five letters ‘set’ then three first letters…
