Hi Roof, it’s quiet here today.
Yes, you are correct re the second word in 19a. If you’re anything like me you have a couple of these!
In 13a and 16d the definitions are at the beginning of the clues.
16 parses as 1 (a first letter) + 4 (little bloomers) both inside 4 (Arab land). Hope that helps

Thanks Jono

Yes, where is everybody? Either they are still struggling like me, or found it so easy they finished. Where is Brendan?

I got 19ac, though interestingly, the three letters weren't the ones I was thinking of. I thought the definition of 13ac was at the beginning, but I couldn't make head nor tails of the rest. Does stutter have a special meaning in crosswords?

And I've just got 16d. Let's see if this helps me get some more. But I'm just not on Picaroon's wavelength. I much prefer Paul, who is my favourite setter.

Roof, the "stutter" in 13 is phonetic. Parses as 2 + 1 + (6 imagined with a stutter, making 7)

I always have a bad feeling about starting threads, usually a kiss of death that guarantees a dud.
