Very pleased to see another Simonh on this forum (my real name). Can someone just tell me if 6d is the obvious anagram just to put my mind at rest. I'm really not getting 12a at all. I wonder if I don't know it. Rare for Everyman to go too obscure.

Rocky, yes 6d is an obvious anagram, not the best clue imho.
12a requires knowledge of a specific play (this I knew because it’s been on in London for a long time, now also a film) and also a generic term for plays which are often performed (I didn’t know this but it’s in Chambers)

12 is an expression often used in classical music re. frequently played symphonies, concerti, etc.
