The clue is “local frames poetry, ignoring title” (5) I have Hai.s and can’t find anything to fit. NB there may be an extra word in the clue

Hi patch49, haik(u)s, U being a Burmese title of respect.

HAIK = "A rack or frame for drying cheese" (dialect)

HAIKUS - U (title)

40d - Ingredient of wild ragu? (4)

This looks like an anagram which only produces two words, GAUR and GUAR - the first is a wild ox from India and the second a thickening agent used in food which, to my mind, would make the latter an "ingredient" - the trouble is that 42a ends in an A which only fits if the wild ox is the answer - can that be right?

Okay, I probably should have looked up what the ingredients of Ragu sauce were before posting - sorry!

Well, after my "ragu" faux pas, I finally have a full grid and eight extra words but have now, pretty much, come to a complete standstill - this is going to take some serious thought and a good night's rest I think.

Out of interest, has anyone finished?
