Hi Roof.

I got into it with 24a. Think of a less intellectual Marx then jiggle sound some Japanese currency.

hi roof
9,3 derives from harry, but the thematics don't

Hi all

I've got two and have now guessed at 9,3 - I just have to parse it.

I'll be back.

Began this at 7am (Italian time) so geeker's first post was the only one up. Worked for about two hours on it. Went out and now back with mainly NE missing.

I tend to avoid any books or films involving 9,3 type themes but that hasn't stopped me really enjoying this. 13a and 12a are definitely my CODS.

Help with 6d and 21 d would be much appreciated.

6d a 3 letter synonym for “for” followed by someone stingy. Def = guarantor

Hi Rocky,

6d - Is a double definition - one is "guarantor" and the other is more cryptic but it's difficult explain - at least for me!

21d - Is a thematic creature with the E(nglish) moved to the top - definition is "wit" (French)

Thanks Richard, I'd been completely misreading it!

Thanks Richard. That just didn't come to me at all. So obvious when you get a hint.

There seems to be a "French connection" of sorts with a few clues. Perhaps not enough to qualify as an auxiliary theme.
