Wow. 28a was my LOI too, but I managed to see it when I fed the crossers into Qat. But a wicked parse! My faves were 13, 14, 23, 6 ...Thanks, that was a tough one, Paul...

Hi Jvector,

28a - I think this will go down in Prize history as one of the toughest Prize clues, even though it's a straightforward anagram:-)

.... I think part of the problem is that 15d has two valid spellings, one ending ER and one RE and, if you choose wrong, well - good luck making sense of 28a! 😜

Struggling to parse 23a, though I'm sure I'm missing something very straightforward. Any hints on where the first two letters of solution come from?

Hi Grum,

23a - The first 2 letters are an old setter's favourite - "it" = S(ex) A(ppeal) as 'the it girl/boy'

In the words of JCC, never in the Daily Express. I have been thinking about nipples for best part of a day and still nowhere

On 23a I took the first two letters from the first two words, rather than"it". Either works I guess.

Thanks Brendan, now you say that, I remember that same device came up recently- have to remember it next time!
I did wonder if it came from first two words, but then what would the definition be?
