I enjoyed this but I do like a theme. I had a reasonable knowledge of said theme but still had to use Google to help - but I don’t mind that as it means I’m learning something new! My COD was 7d as I really don’t like Spoonerisms and smiled at the misdirection.

Well that was fun. Glad to see I'm not the only one who struggled with 28a despite a degree in a relevant discipline! COD for me was 26a which made my wife inhale coffee. 7d is clever too.

7d - The "note" is a foreign currency and it goes around 3 initial letters from the clue definition is "something for (Reverend) Spooner, say?"
