Does anyone have a hint to throw a lifeline to me today? I can’t seem to get to grips with anything

i'm not much further on ... but i do have the unclued filled in ....it seems to satisfy the title...
Which clues do you need some help with?

jogamel, separating the two entry methods can be confusing but if you've got some cross-checking letters you've probably got clashes (if your answer doesn't fit the cells available) and if not, you've probably got the other version (minus 1 letter then anagram).
I hope this helps without giving too much away.

Probably most of them to be honest. I have the rather straightforward answer to 1a. But obviously don’t know how to put this in as I only have two of the down answers from this. one of which seems impossible to work out, ie 5d.
Does the title of the puzzle help?

5d is a minus letter and anagram type entry, 1a is the other kind, as is 1d - your clash in the first cell contains 5 letters (all clashes are different types of the same sort).

jogamel .....i expect you have the "before" answer to 5d ...lose a letter then anagram it.
27d and 28d are the same type ...and you should notice something in those 3.....

...'different types' isn't helpful - they're all names of objects that are essentially the same.
