All done by 9:40am, what am I supposed to do for the rest of this wet weekend?!
Not a massive fan of the theme, but can appreciate it's been quite cleverly used, especially with the central across line.
FOI was 24d - no idea why I started there, possibly just because it was the shortest clue so my eye jumped to it.
LOI was 4a - not familiar with the writer or the form of address, but could work it out from the crossers.
COD maybe 22a, maybe 7d just cos it's one of my favourites!

Just stuck on 5d. I know the solution, but can't parse the clue.
5d) Guided the wrong way, knowing state of successful 9 (8)
9 refers to a political term.
Answer is "guided the wrong way" (I think).

it's a topical us state. first 3 letters are guided backwards

Very enjoyable puzzle today with some very satisfying parsing and I enjoyed the topical theme, though I agree it's probably run its course now. Hopefully the next time the gentleman mentioned in 29a comes up is when we area all holding 13a when he is convicted of 21a! Thanks Brendan(s).

Pretty much a write-in for me and not Prize worthy IMO. Forcing the theme into every clue ends up making it too easy. That all said, I still can’t get 4d even with all of the crossers. Any hints welcome. Thanks

a shakesperean form of address upwards. any number of authors with that surname - i assume one of them fits the rest of the definition

I think the "Georgia writer" is meant to refer to the author of the Uncle Remus stories.

Utterly stuck on 17a - ?_i_e and it's crosser 13d - p_?_t. I think the ? Could be a w but can't parse the obvious answer for 13 and cannot come up with anything sensible for 17. Help appreciated
