Hi LiberMonkey,

Welcome to the Forum:-)

9a - single letter A (from the clue) then a 5 letter word for "coach" (as a verb) with the R(un) becoming T(ime) - definition is "get".

I usually breeze Everyman but one of the setters is a "modernist"! Still can't parse 20d, failed on 26 ac, don't like INCENSES, and as for FROYOS! "primarily"!

Still struggling with 3D as last clue in ... Please help, it’s driving me nuts !

T-I-L-/W-R-/S-O-E?

Rhymes with 6D so “ware” plus shore” or “store”? ??

Is there a partial anagram ?

Sophtie,

It is a complete anagram of 3 words in the clue ("rent" as it "tear apart" is the anagram indicator)
