I assumed that 27a was a short form of "frozen yogurts". Is that right?

Looking for some assistance with 1d pls.
Hoping that it will help with some across clues which get their first letter from 1d.

I agree with others that 3d is rather splendid. I was struggling for ages with 3d and 1a because I have never come across the use of resort and rent in this way. I was thinking of Blackpool or Brighton and peppercorn rent - I have learned something new today!

1d is the cabbage genus. It builds up, but would be difficult if you aren't familiar with the slang for "money".

Chris, yes that’s my assumption too. I wonder if there’s a term for creating a new word out of two existing words.. Brexit or BoJo or indeed 27a might be examples

In answer to myself, I’m reminded the term is “portmanteau”
