I wouldn't call the theme subtle, lumen!

Not sure about 24d. Parsing or definition. I am a coeliac so not sure it's defined correctly!
Ignore economic regulations primarily to monopolise wheat. (4).

Hi Lumen,

I thought it was excellent. In addition to 12a I particularly liked 19d, which is as smooth an anagram as one's likely to see.
