Thanks Simon, I'll print it off at a friend's later today.

The other one I did is 202 by Chameleon, which is also excellent.

Thanks again Simon, that was great fun, although it took me way longer than it should have to realise the central square was the Sun - I was going down all sorts of dwarf planet rabbit holes!

Glad you enjoyed it, some are better than others. From memory, the other letters are all in their approximately correct positions. Another one that’s sometimes quite fun is the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) monthly cryptic that gets posted here on the forum. Again some are better than others.

The instructions say that the empty squares should not be entered in the answers. Does that mean 28 blank squares, because 3 squares are adjoining ?

Hi Rayh, Do you mean where 2 intersecting clues have the common letter missing?
Yes, there would be 28 letters missing when you do fill in the answers for submission, but only 25 empty squares in the grid.

Not so taxing but a great deal of fun! And of course the theme had to be unstated because it was something that wasn’t, wasn’t it??!! Mrs A would certainly have echoed some of Dove’s comments..... Thanks to Pasquale.
