yes thats right ...now anagram it for the 3,9

Hi all, no need to anagram, read rows from top to bottom & columns from left to right.

ah yes didn't see it the other way round...

Isn’t that just one word?

going from left to right gives your 12 letter word novice.
going from top to bottom along the rows in order gives the 3,9

Another excellent puzzle, the solve was tricky but the endgame more than made it worthwhile.

I have the answer to these clues but I can't fully parse them.....

Other than the P I'm at a loss as to the wordplay.

32d One no good bit of pasture, maybe Don moves on by (3)

My answer is a 3 letter pasture/meadow but I don't get the "Don moves on by" part.

32d. Def. is a 'river meadow', so it's one where the Don, perhaps, moves on by.
I'm not sure of 33a. either.
