Thanks Brendan

I thought I had the answer to 21ac, but couldn't parse it.

I also had considered the answer to 15d, but couldn't see enough letters for the anagram, but it definitely means set.

Once you told me I was looking for a themed 28 in the wrong place, I found the right place and have nearly finished, just 26ac and 27d to do.

No rush today as no Montelbano. I don't fancy Billy Elliot again.

Yes Livia is a wet blanket.

Hi Roof,

for 15d I'm guessing you're missing an "i" which is the "character standing upright".

I see what you mean Zowlo, I wasn't aware of the term's origin.

I hesitated to say this before, but the spoiler risk has diminished...I didn't notice any of Paul's trademark ("Pauline" as they sometimes say in Guardian online comments) naughty/off-colour entries in this puzzle.

Sorry, it was a Pauline clue, but it was Vlad from the day before!

Although I found all the 28 acrosses , like last week, there are some with extra letters so I wouldn't have noticed the theme.
