Congratulations, bigbad, and thanks, tyke. I'll have to see whether that clip is available with subtitles, or perhaps dubbed with a Boston accent.

aristo @62

I was on the point of asking for an English translation!

We watch "Montalbano" as we like the programmes, but as it's Sicilian, it's about as much use in improving our Italian as an Italian watching the Glasgow detective "Cracker" to improve her English!

Thanks to all for the votes and mentions.

Good word for clueing, tyke - I was pretty sure we'd had it before but that just became another example of my poor memory. Thanks for running the show this week and I really enjoyed the prize.

See you all next week

Marty

chrise: We have the same problem with Montalbano. Why didn't Sicily stick with Greek?

Well done, BBM2. Thanks to Malcolm and Aristo for the votes, and to Kt, FJ, Paul and Dorrien for the mentions.
Cheers, Tyke, a good word to clue.
As 'bridge' was fairly popular in the clues, the pedant in me wants to mention that 'contract' is not a synonym of 'bridge', but a version of it. This should be indicated in the clue with e.g. 'perhaps' or a '?' after the word, as BBM2 has done.
