Welcome to our friendly competition to compose a cryptic clue, to be judged by your fellow contestants.

You may enter as many clues as you like and everyone is welcome. Feel free to explain your clue, if you think it will help, or to ask another setter to parse a clue.

Entrants should vote for their favourite clue, and may indicate a second choice if they wish. This will be counted in the event of a tie. The setter has the deciding vote if, after this, there is still a tie.

Clues should be posted by 12 noon (UK time) on Friday 15th of May, when voting opens.
Voting closes at 8 pm.

The entry with the most votes wins and its composer sets next week's competition.
The setter may change the rules for the following week.

The setter will declare the winner and award an online prize.
This week's challenge is:

ONE-OFF (3-3)

Have fun and good luck!

It's a walkover (3-3)

A 'walkover' is a horserace with only one starter. If all other competitors are scratched, the remaining horse must complete the course to get the prizemoney

Doesn't happen often these days, but walkovers used to be common at 'bush-meetings' in Australia, where at least one race had to be run for legal betting on metropolitan meetings to take place
