I hope I'm wrong, but I'm encountering a problem at 10 Down. I can only see a form of madness being a jumble for a thematic Balkan thing to fit with the letters I have in that area, and my last letter is an E not an A. I'm very certain of all my checked letters.
R?BI?E.

Turast, your letters are correct. The answer is a country in S.E. Asia. I'd never met the word, the entry, before, but it's in Chambers.

Likewise, Malone, I had never heard of the word, and it took quite an effort to work it out.

I have everything except 4d

For 4d I have DE?T?

Range of curtains initially proposed for academy (5)

Any enlightenment will be welcome

'curtains' is slang in this context - replace the 'a' with 'p'.

Peter,

Range is the definition.
There's a five letter slang word for 'curtains' (not fabric!). Swap the 'a' for academy' with the 'p' from 'proposed'.

Hi This is my first ever post but desperation has driven me. I am completely stuck on 7 down and as nobody else has mentioned this one I must be missing something very obvious. "Trees in quarries" I have __T_P_. Help please. Thank you

Susie, it's Attaps, trees. It's At, in + Taps. Taps and quarries can both mean a source from which information can be gleaned.
