Thank you both. It might have helped if I had written 18d correctly!!!

Phil1000 I agree with your remark about the spoonerisms. Almost to say that this one is not quite a spoonerism in my understanding. But I could be wrong. And of course stay safe. Dare I say that I hope we do not get a virus inspired Everyman.

12a: Four letter synonym for stepping on a wire and setting off a buried explosive. This follows the letter s. The second word is synonym for that buried explosive. I hope that is the correct parsing.

I romped through this week’s offering early this morning before hitting the trails for a spot of moorland cycling “social distancing” while it’s still allowed.

A great range of clues with my favourite being 1ac - superb. One of the best set of clues in the past few months.

I enjoyed this a lot and got on without any help, although I'm still not sure of 6d as a hyphenated form. Covering up European cuts in Guardian's leader. E?L -?P?I?G. I don't know if the second letter should be E or L and have no idea what the European cuts are -- anguilles? -- or any of it. I'm also stymted by the spoonerism of 17d, and the origin of all letters other than K and N in 18d.i loved 1ac and 9 and 11.. Very amusing puzzle!
