Just recalled another clue in which the surface suggested cricket but had a non - cricket solution :
Warner again involved in wrongdoing (5)
This was particularly good as it was around the time of the Aussie ' ball tampering ' scandal

Maybe they could have the "siren" sound every time someone is spotted tampering with the ball - although it would probably never stop! (Warner, Atherton, Tendulkar, Afridi, Smith.......)
