Evening all

I'm new to the world of cryptic crosswords so please forgive my simple question.

The clue is "Stuck with tot holding present" and the answer is "adhered".
I get the definition but not the wordplay. Could someone explain please?

Hi Mickey, as you've probably already figured out, the definition is "stuck" and it's made up from...

Tot = ADD (with "holding as a 'containment indicator') around..

Present = HERE (So "Add" is holding/containing "Here")

Here- present, in add( tot up).adhere.
