One - I'm mystified that there isn't more debate of AZED on this forum... am I missing some unspoken convention?

Two - I'm totally mystified by 34 this week - I have

_ANO_LET_ERS (3 words)

which to me only fits MAN OF LETTERS but this in the maddest universe cannot be anagrammed into a one word for Anticipation or court proceedings (COUNTERPLEA? doesnt fit).

Driving me mad - please help me!

I'm in a rush, KT, but doesn't it make something like Forestalment?

PS I don't think there are many Azed comments on here.

KT17, glad I could help. I usually like ticking off all the letters in anagrams/possible anagrams, but I was quite busy.

My comment about Azed was meant to say that there didn't seem to be regular posts, queries . I don't know why that is.

@ Jazzgirl and Hercules, you may be seasoned Azed-bashers which I'm not - have you any sense why this puzzle isn't more a matter of debate here?

I did enjoy this outing though I was very grateful of Malone's assistance - not sure how I missed that anagram... as you say Hercules the one on the top was fiendish too!

Thanks be for Malone, Jazzgirl and all those brainier than I!

Hi
I sometimes tackle the Azed but very often do not solve all answers !
I happened to know marcatissimo as my family is full of musicians. In my Collins Music Encyclopaedia is shown: Marcato - Marked, emphatic, so marcatissimo is derived from that.

Stuck on final couple of letters!
Does 4 down begin as 8 down, seems a bit lazy if it does?
10ac , got PO** but cannot parse it further
Any hints appreciated

4d - yes

10a - the solution to be entered is an obsolete three-letter word for the jack at the game of post and pair ('Old jack') containing ('swallowing') O ('egg'). The definition relates to a disease of the respiratory system in poultry, and involves transposing the first and last letters of the entry.

Hope that helps
