Ludo, my way in worked for me - but other solvers maybe had different approaches!

I had all the conventional answers and noticed that there were only two six-letter answers in those. One answer had an interesting letter in it, so I tried fitting it into the two six-letter spaces … it would only work in one. I then built up a few others around it - and at the same time, put the other six-letter answer in the only other available space. Fitting in the terminal answers involved a bit more trial and error, as there were more options available, but I did those in pencil.

PS I've no longer got my scribbles, notes, so I hope I've remembered this properly!

I've got a copy of my filled grid, and there's no Osiris. The conventional O answer has five letters.

Ludo, my computer's going off in a minute, but I'll put a big hint at the very bottom of this post. Don't scroll to the bottom if you don't want information that's more specific!

The 6-letter conventional answers begin with C and J.

Glad I could help, Ludo. Progress speeded up considerably once I'd got little clusters of words. Enjoy the rest of it!
