Whatever we say about setters, it is too self-deprecating by far to describe themselves as ‘dogs’, surely? Still, as long as they know we love them really ; ) Without your handy hints Re: German novels and Olympic equestrians earlier I don’t think I would have gotten those two clues easily. Otherwise 3/4 of this straightforward and fun! PS any hints re: auditions needing coats? Thx!

I also found this quite difficult today, but I love 19a. Great clue. Anyway, stuck on left-hand side. Maybe some tips would help.

9a: exchange about privies to be seen as premature (1,3,8). I think it's an anagram but can't get it. A bit [I think the second word is bit] p???e?u?

22d. number provided by Support, ringing Personnel (5) i?r?e

18d. crazy daughter escaped. (7) ???i?ded

17a - no letters at all. Clue is topless undergarment is kind of current (4). Is the 1st letter r????
