Nice, ginge. Have you thought of a way to celebrate? Having intuited the reference I looked it up; there are some things I just don't want to know, but I still can't help myself.

An aside: Our island has a tiny public school (as you know, not what public school is over there), and of the four students in this year's senior class two are going to Yale and one is going to St. Andrews (I mean your St. Andrews). Not so insular.

Many thanks skyewalker, obviously it didn't meet with everyone's approval; can't please all the people all the time, but I think "hit" would direct solvers in the right direction if they were previously unaware of the subject matter. I for one, am not always conversant with every definition in the puzzles I do, thank goodness for the BRB and in some instances like this Google.
