Not an easy one this time. I was completely flummoxed about half way but the tips for 15-25 got me going again and the rest slotted in quite quickly. There are some splendid clues, 1d is my favourite, so it is worth persevering. I was stuck for ages with 1812 - marshland and make up, (I thought overtures were supposed to come at the beginning not the end!!!) and was just about to ask for a subtle hint, but I just cracked it. Very convoluted.

First I got 19d then 13d. I'm not sure about my answer to 20ac which may explain why I still can't get 16d.
Eventually the penny dropped with 15,25 and I felt ashamed of myself. I used to have a half share in one some 40+ years ago.

And I've just got 23ac as I type. Just two to go.

The penny finally dropped on 16d, which confirmed that Cleft Lip was the wrong answer for 20ac. I now have a much better answer.

So, I've finished, though I still can't parse my answer for 1d, but I think it might be right.
