Thank you Minnime. I can't believe I missed it; was looking for something more subtle.

Hi Heather. There's been so many clues given that I can't repeat them again so I'm going to give you answers which you can take or leave.
9 Oversubtlety (anagram)
13 Scenario (anagram)
37 The cats whiskers
39 Mortgage
48 Anchoress
49 Stomachs
57 Thoroughfare
67 Phoenix
90 Hour
Those are my answers so may not be all correct. I'm still not happy about Ricochet or Bouncing for 21 and have been leaning towards Squadron in last couple of days.

Apart from the big problem of number 21, I am stuck on two that no-one else seems to have a problem with.
50. Queue for a penny drink abroad
60. Painter calling home - possibly about start of employment
Gentle hints would be much appreciated.

Thanks Lady Bee. I had already worked out who the artist was, but couldn't see any progression from that (know of him, but nothing of his works) and have been going mad trying to work out a different queue for months! Never mind, I shall plod on for the next week or so. :)
