Pretty funny, you two when one knows the answer to 9 down. I had to use Quick Solve to spot the setters train of thought. But the parsing of 8 down else's me despite having the solution. Where are the old lamps to be gathered from. I see the Mint part. I hate to recycle it without understanding it.
