You may well be right about the wrong book title.

Thanks for the info re hep. I have never heard it used here, nor hip, nor cat for jazz fans for that matter.

I enjoyed looking up the McEnroe clip. It seems tennis was more interesting in those days.

Although McEnroe's behaviour was appalling, he had the decency to make his complaints in good, clear English. I enjoy his comments at Wimbledon nowadays.

I wish he was commentating on the football. I am sick of hearing about quali'y, capaci'y and so on. What has happened to the 20th letter of the alphabet?

Yes the match last night was ruined by somebody I have never heard of called Emma talking non-stop drivel throughout. As men cannot criticise the politically correct nonsense of employing several women, I will say it on their behalf. Whilst there are excellent presenters in Gabby Logan and Reshmin Chowdhury, the women "experts" are awful. Admittedly some men are too.

I did not like the a''i'ude and in'ensi'y of some of the players and what is a 'a''oo?

Yes I agree. I wish they would employ people on ability. In my opinion, the best commentator is a woman, Robyn Cowen. I dont know anything about her, but she has a pleasant voice and identifies the players. That is all I want.

Yes, jigjag, that 20th letter. I can forgive people dropping a t if it's part of their natural dialect, but I can't abide RP speakers doing it when they are terrified of sounding posh. Among the guilty: Tony Blair and George Osborne. Did they really think voters would love them for sounding 'common'?

Very annoying for you. 140,000 at Silverstone but you cant have 4,000 at Scarb. I looked at Lancs website and it seems there will be 6,000 at Leeds. Hope you can go.

Bad luck re Roses match. Congrats to NZ on a stunning performance. Excellent team.

Paul

I have never heard Blair do it, so I will drop him a notch. Osborne, Michael Vaughan etc sound ridiculous.

I assume it is a tattoo. I have heard "cocka'oo", which is awful.

Just been watching a video on how to propagate certain plants.
The presenter kept referring to the compost as dirt, which is a pet hate of mine, but at least he didn't call it dir'!
