Thanks. I used 'soundalikeness' because 'homophone' is full of connotations for me, it usually involves a gripe about the latest homophone, alleged homophone in the Times puzzle.

Yes, do write to the Times. I'm sure you could rattle off quite a few -ess words, supplying some clues would be good too. That could be a dual purpose move - maybe one of your clues will oust an SA/It clue. We can dream....

Wow! Soundalike of my own name - Times 27819 20 ac.

Become tedious letter-writer by the sound of it (4)

Can't remember seeing that before but probably common.

Yes I thought that letter-writer referred to you. But your letters are not tedious, quite the opposite, so it was a poor clue.

Paul,

I'll set aside my homophonephobia to comment on your clue, or 'your' clue! It was good that you got a name check, and I quite liked the 'letter writer' rather than 'posts [on the Forum] writer' that would have been my first thought.

Congratulations on your clue. A few Pedants have had one, but I am still waiting for mine.

I am sorry you are suffering from homophonephobia, but at least it is not as bad as phoneyhomophonephobia, resulting from recent fake homophones in the Times.

Tell you what, jigjag, if I ever win Clueless or Peer Review again, I'll think about setting JIGJAG the next week!

Thanks for the wonderful word. It won't be easy to drop it into casual conversation, but I'll have a go. If we want to add to our Forum Thesaurus, maybe we can have Pseudohomophoneophobia too?

Thanks, great clue. I think an anagram one might prove difficult!
