I'm sorry my advice proved so useless. I'm sure, though, that you made good use of the 15-minute wait for the next bus. Perhaps you ran through the vast range of adjectives you have in your vocabulary, deciding which of them could be best used to describe the bus driver? I'm sorry too that Mr Buss was so unhelpful.
My only suggestion for your next outing would be for you to use a combination of tactics. Perhaps you should revert to your usual walking backwards regime, but with your left arm stretched out as far as it'll go. Hmm, that might not work if you're not actually AT the bus stop.
I must add that your problem would never be my problem. Technology has come to my rescue. My smart phone contains a program (known as an 'App') that tracks buses and tells me exactly when the next one is due. I can even click on a little map to see where the bus is. This means that I can be forward-looking at all times, walk a little faster if necessary and so on.
