Hi Chris,

I was writing a reply to you post saying how surprised I was that I'd never heard about this and how absurd it is to rewrite history then, just as I was about to hit "send", I heard the outcome! - (I won't say it because I don't want to spoil it for anyone else).

Of course I wasn't offended, quite flattered in fact that you thought I could do the job.

I didn't see GB play but he seems divisive. I enjoy his commets on TMS though.

I`d heard about the little trick Aggers` played on GB but this is the first time I`ve seen it - thought it was brilliant the way Aggers built up the story so that, logically, GB`s hundredth hundred never actually happened at Headingley ( I was there obviously ). I`m just glad GB didn`t suffer a heart attack as I don`t wish him any harm.

John Hampshire recalls a game (versus Northants I think) where GB took 2 days to crawl to another century. When he eventually got out JH was expected to make some quick runs for Yorks but instead he carried on playing as slowly as GB had - just to make the point that the rest of the side were fed up with it! The YCCC committee were not impressed.

I think a lot of people enjoy listening to GB`s comments but I`m sorry I`m not one of them.

I was amused by the handwritten sign on a local hairdresser's shop saying that the shop would be closed for the forceable future.

Jigjag… on 16th April you expressed your dislike of the ungainly 'Stay home' advice. I was reminded of that today when I laughed at a cartoon in this week's Spectator. We have two police officers, wearing yellow vests, speaking to two people on the street. The officer with 'Police' on his vest tells them 'Stay home'. The officer with 'Grammar Police' on his vest tells them 'Stay at home'.

I really liked the 'forceable' future.

Tyke,

No, the old ones aren't necessarily the best - sorry!

I too laughed at your description of the Spectator cartoon. I have enough trouble with the `Fashion Police` but now I`m sporting my `Corona` beard I fear I may as well become a recluse - do you know of any vacant man caves?

I was hoping you were too young to remember my corny old joke.

Tyke51,

After I posted, I realised the 'Grammar Police' job would be ideal for any PU member who's chafing at the current restrictions. Not only would we get to go out and about, we'd also get to indulge our pedantic natures. I've never seen the position advertised, but I'll apply in a nano-second if I do.

I did/do quite like your little joke, but part of me thought, 'Oh no, it's that one again'. Still, I quite like the idea of something being closed or cancelled due to 'foreseen circumstances'.

I was pleased to see your posting as it reminded me that we talked a lot about barbers, who always seem to get the apostrophe in the wrong place, about a year ago. I go to Daves'. There is only one Dave of course.

I did a short report which Malone and asetter were kind enough to think was amusing. I am desperate for a haircut, and a shave, as my beard is as long as Tyke's, so am hoping the restrictions will be eased soon.

Malone and Tyke

I am pleased to hear that the Spectator agrees with us. The other night they re-played part of Johnson's statement and he clearly says "You must stay at home". It is irritating that Raaab over-ruled him.

I will certainly apply for the Grammar Police role when it is advertised.
