Sunray, sorry about the wrong information! I didn't do the whole instruction on Sunday - I spotted the significant words, leading to what we were to do. Hope you got it finished.

I should have said that I see 16 cells that have 5 for a flower and 11 for another name for Armistice Day.

I agree - some poor clues, though good endgame

26 down surely refers to Belgian (not Dutch) city, albeit in Flanders. Am I wrong?

sunray ...fill in another 12 cells to make a symmetrical pattern round the black middle .......colour the 28 cells red....

I read them. I can see three names.
Just color them to make the flower?

no those 12 didn't seem to spell anything out after the other 16...yep, just colour them in red.
