A nice timely puzzle. I might go later if I can get a lift

Yes, timely - but perhaps a shade too simple?

Thanks Malone. I thought some of the clues were hard but fair?

Yes, jigjag, there were some tough clues - but crossing letters always helped me out! It was all very fair, though, and definitely 'doable'.

Have finished the puzzle with the exception of 4d which I cannot get, I am suggesting another title for a particular leader always assuming leader is the definition. Can't parse it or 22a/22d, again assuming the def's are student & paper size for which I have answers.
Thanks.

MM, I wish you'd give the clues! 4 D is Capo. leader - from Cap +Do.

For puzzled onlookers, if there are any, some letters are ignored in this.

So pleased you posted. I was thinking that Malone and I were the only 2 solvers who had attempted this puzzle.

22A is very clever - the last moments are lip and cup - 2 golf terms

Malone/Manic Mary

Do you think 16D works? - "Do you understand one daughter is lacking change?" - I have EDIT ( def = change) - assume wordplay = GET ID with spare G - but lacking?
