Some charming clues, as usual. I was left with a blank square in the central block of four, but then realized that 45 unclued could use two of these squares instead of one. Did anyone else have this problem? I've tried to see a pattern in the shaded squares, but although the same letter is in all the corner ones I don't see the significance. Since the instructions don't mention one I guess I was looking for something that isn't there.
Thanks, syzygy!

Thanks, syzygy. This was great fun and not as straightforward (!) as I initially thought.

Aristo, I didn't have any blanks in the centre, but I did have to do a bit of untangling.

I initially had used the C to the left of the NW square of the center block as part of 45 unclued, but now I have that C in the NW and the E from the same entry in the NE. I only moved it because the NE was empty otherwise.

Thanks, aristo. I think, hope, I've followed your coordinates, reasoning. My NE has the last of 14 in it.

Ah. I saw the last of 14 as 21. Hm. So there are at least two unclued entries that could go in different directions.

Arissto, it was 30 and 33 that got me tangled up in the centre squares. Your using 21 for 14 seems fine, but then that gave you another problem. My solution might not be the correct one, but it works for me!

I have not used 21 for 14. I end in the NE shaded square.
The only thing that confused me was one at 50. That seems to be the only plural.

I have 50 as singular.

Sunray, I haven't got 50 as a plural. I've got the same ending as in the other corners.
