What is the only four-digit number that is two more than double the number obtained by reversing the order of the digits? Can you find the only ten-digit number with the same property?

Well done Tatters.
Did you use a formula or was it trial and error?

Used Excel

Column 1 - digits 1001 to 9999

set macro to reverse those digits in Column 2

Column 3 to calculate A1-2*A2 etc

Sort by column 3 and find the entry showing 2

Thanks.
I guessed that the middle two numbers should be the same and that's as far as I got!
